Tribunal Removes Another PDP Senator

Sani Abubakar Danladi of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has been removed from his senatorial seat in Taraba state by an election tribunal, Sahara Reporters reports.
 
Danladi who was the former acting governor of Taraba state had initially been declared as the winner of the Taraba north senatorial district after the April 11 election.

 



An electoral tribunal in the state after examining the elections to the National Assembly nullified the election of Danladi on Wednesday, October 14.

The candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ali Sani Kona, had petitioned the tribunal and requested that the election be cancelled. He argued that provisions of the electoral acts were not conformed to.

Snakes Invade Plateau Communities

About 50 people in the last two weeks have been bitten by snakes fleeing flooded areas in Kanam, Kanke and other communities in Plateau state.

 

 

 Timothy Golu, a member of the House of Representatives representing Pankshin, Kanke and Kanam Federal Constituency confirmed the incident to NAN in Jos after visiting the victims.

He noted that some of the victims had died, while 13 others were in critical conditions at Jos University Teaching Hospital, JUTH, and 20 were been treated in traditional healing homes in the state.

Obama Sends American Troops, Drones To Fight Boko Haram

American President Barack Obama will send 300 US troops, along with surveillance drones, to Cameroon to counter the Nigerian militant sect Boko Haram.

 US President Barack Obama informed the Congress he is sending up to 300 US military men to fight Boko Haram insurgents.

US officials said on Wednesday, October 14, that a front force of 90 American army personnel has arrived in Cameroon.

The troops will be organising airborne intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance operations, the official stated, adding they would be armed for their own protection.


Obama said: “These forces are equipped with weapons for the purpose of providing their own force protection and security, and they will remain in Cameroon until their support is no longer needed.”

An American woman, Maria Montenez-Colon, was arrested on Friday after calling 911 twice in one evening with quite an odd “alarming message”.



Describing herself as “horny”, the lady allegedly summoned a cop to her home and tried to have sex with him — pleading “I haven’t been penetrated in years!”

The 58-year-old Maria was arrested Friday night in the misuse of 911.

The officer drove to her home in Punta Gorda after she reportedly told a dispatcher that she wanted her late husband’s Corvette back after giving it to her son, authorities said.

According to the police officer, he repeatedly informed the suspect that her behavior was inappropriate. However, he desire seemed overwhelming.

Moreover, the woman was said to be drunk when the officer arrived and immediately started making sexually suggestive comments such as “You are so sexy” and “Are you married?”.
